The Chika Williams Saga

The following is an exact transcription of my efforts to waste the time of a Nigerian 419 scammer

For more info on 419 scams and how to screw with them, do stop by 419eater.com.

I receive these things all the time, and just shitcan them as quickly as I get them. One day, I decided that I’d see what happened if I wrote back. I started off with a very simple and lame response. What happened after that was a riot! I actually kept this guy going, while I conversed with him through three different email accounts. He was under the impression that he was dealing with 3 seperate people, and even started a torrid love affair with one of them!

I never expected this dipshit to go along with me for 3 months! He must have been really desperate to go to the great lengths that he did. Nonetheless, he was a quite amusing part of my day for the three months in question. I kinda miss typing to my African friend Chika!

Everything has been left in tact, including grammatical errors and whatnot. This guy’s english seemed to get worse as he grew more impatient. The only thing that I have censored out of the original emails was my personal cell phone number. I did, in fact, give him my cell number. I believe he tried to call it twice one day, but declined to leave a message.

This contract was over invoice because I was one of the “contract tender board committee” and the Chairman of tender board some few years ago and the fund inquestion is not at the back of my purket, it is in the tressurery.

Since the original contractor has been fully paid his Money for the contract executed and commissioned, it is left the balance of the over inflected cost of the Fund as started in my proposal to you. This fund has been floating since due to there is no body to claim the money.

The reason is, we are looking for a Godly Person who will give us our share after the fund is Remitted into his account and as we are civil servant and senior government officer, we are not allowed to Operate a foreign bank account.

My contacting you now for this proposal is to assist us act as the owner of the fund by providing to us the following requirements to use and process the claim and remittance of the fund into your bank account. Please send the under listed info to me immediatelly.

(a) The name of your bank, address of the bank, Telephone and fax numbers of the bank.

Note that this transaction is strictly confidential and secrete for any exposure by you will jeopardize the whole business.

Most importantly it is 100% risk free and I am assuring you, if the required information’s is given to me and my colleagues within 14 working days the fund will be remitted into your bank account.

Note that at the end of he remittance my colleagues and I will come to your country for the sharing of the fund as started in my first proposal to you. We also hope that you assist us in investing the fund by Directing us to the useful investment. We are going to spend money to get the fund approved,I hope you will be ready to assist us when the need arrived.

Every expenses will be taken care of from the 10% maped out for expenses.I can be contacted on phone number 234-80-23086390 for more briefting.

I hope you are cleared about the whole proposal.

Mr. Williams,

I am a trial lawyer. As such, I spend a good deal of my time in courtrooms doing my job. While I am in court, I do not have access to my email, nor do I have the capacity to divert my attentions to anything other than the legal defense of my client. Please be patient as I make arrangements for this transaction. I agree that this is a very important transaction, and as such I do not want to rush through it. My secretary, Christa, should have already contacted you re: the account numbers. Her message would have originated from the email address [email protected].

She should be able to keep you informed while I am in trial.

Mr Chika Williams,

I’m terribly sorry, but I’m afraid that Mr. Anderson had misrepresented your email address to me when he asked me to contact you. Did you receive the bank account information that you had requested? If not, I’ll gladly send it again.

Mr. Anderson also wishes me to express that he has received your photograph, and is very pleased. He hopes that you will be able to arrange a meeting with him in person when you arrive to the United States. I’ve seen your photograph also. You’re quite a handsome man. Are you single? Do you speak with an accent? I’ve always loved men with an accent!

Sincerely,

Sweetheart,
What’s this cut and paste email you sent me? Is this all I’m worth to you? A cut and paste email? You’re referring to me in the third person as if I’m not even reading this! I have to say that I’m deeply hurt by this. I thought you loved me. Every other man in my life has hurt me, why should you be any different.
As a matter of fact, I have been ill for the past 2 days. I’m not feeling very well today either, but I can’t afford to take any more time off of work. Bill doesn’t believe in paying us for sick days, so I have to use them sparingly. Neil and I are struggling as it is, so off to work I go – sick or not.
So when are you coming to the United States? I can’t wait to meet you. Oh, you asked for my picture before. I’ll attach a picture of me. It’s not a very flattering picture, but it’s the only one I have here in the office.
To answer your question regarding the transaction… Bill has told me very little. (That’s not to surprising. He’s very secretive) What is this all about? If we’re to get married when you come here to the United States, I think I have a right to know what you’re involved with.

Love,
Christa

Mr. Chika,
What more is it that you require of me? I’ve instructed my secratary to cooperate with you fully on the details of the transaction while I’m in court. I don’t think you realize the sheer ammount of time required of a trial lawyer. When I have a case that has gone to trial, I spend nearly 7 hours a day in the courtroom, and an additional 4 or 5 hours a day in the office working out the next days details with my client and fellow attorneys. A man’s life may very well hang in the balance of these preceedings, and I’m obliged to do everything I can to aid my client. I’m not sure what ficticious reports you may have heard about a trial lawyer’s free time, but I can assure you that it is not plentiful. Durning times when a case is set to trial, it is not unusual for me to go several days without sitting down in front of my computer to check my email. Don’t be offended. It’s my job.

I look forward to receiving the affidavit this weekend. I will notify you when I have received it.

Thank you,

I understand. Not a problem. I just needed to make sure before I go ahead with this.
As for the transfer of the $3000.00, I’m not very comfortable with Western Union. I’ve had bad experiences with them in the past. They’ve always managed to bungle up my transactions in some fasion or another. I would feel more comfortable mailing traveler’s cheques or even using PayPal, if you’re familiar with their service. Might either of those be viable options?

Oh Chika!
I’m so happy for us! That was a test. I wanted to see just how devoted you are to me! Oh, you passed! I can’t tell you how happy this makes me! Things are all falling into place now! Last month when I talked to my astrologer, Kenny Kingston, he told me that someone was coming to sweep me off my feet. Well, you must be that someone, because you’ve taken my heart!

I’m a little nervous about telling my son, Neil. He gets upset about things like this quite easily. I’d rather you not call at home, just in case he answers the phone. I’m not ready to tell him yet. I’ll call you this weekend. I just can’t wait to hear your voice. Your number is 234-80-23086390, right? Wow… this is my first international call. How exciting!

You’ve made my day…
I’ll talk to you soon, my love!

Chika,
Oops! I was checking my email yesterday from my nephew’s house. I guess when I sent my reply, it had his name onit. I don’t know how, but he figured out how to check my work email from his house. He’s a whiz with computers. I don’t know how he does it!

So you’ve never heard of Astrology? It’s they study of the stars. I believe that everything in life is preordained. Everything happens for a reason. There are some people who are more in tune with the universe and it’s plan. Those people are called astrologers. They have studied the stars and the secrets of the Tarot, and they can sometimes predict future events. They’re very amazing! I like to call Kenny Kingston on his astrology hotline and ask advice and so on. You wouldn’t believe the number of things that he has predicted in my life!

Bill is in court again today. He didn’t say anything about the transfer this morning before he left. If he calls into the office, I’ll relay your message to him.

I’m going to be off work tomorrow, so I probably won’t be able to email you. Unless I go to my nephew’s house again! I’ll call you this weekend. Until then, I’ll be dreaming of you!

Your love,
~Christa

Mr.. Williams,

Great news! The court case that has taken up so much of my time is finally finished! Even better news is that we won our case, and I’ve kept another innocent man from facing capital punishment. (It’s always a good feeling to spare a man’s life)
As for our dealings, I’ve had a spot of trouble with my local Western Union office. As I’ve said earlier, I don’t seem to have good luck sending money via Western Union. However, I have another solution. Now that my schedule is clear for a few weeks, and I’m in desperate need of a vacation, I’ve decided to fly to Lagos to conclude our dealings personally. I’ve always felt that something of this magnitude is best handled in person anyway. I’ve booked my flight, and I’m scheduled to arrive in Lagos, Nigeria on Friday evening. I’ll be arriving on British Airways flight 75 at 7:40pm 03/26/04. I’ll be staying in a suite at the Sofitel Lagos Moorhouse Ikoyi Hotel. (That is, if my travel agent spelled everything correctly!) Would it be possible for you to meet me at the airport upon my arrival? There’s nothing quite like seeing a new country with a local tour guide!
I plan to bring the money with me. Will US currency be accepted there, or shall I have the money converted at an exchange before my arrival? Will there be more expenses other than the $3000 you had mentioned, or shall I plan to bring more? I’d like to be able to conclude our proceedings in full before my departure for the United States, as I’m sure you’re anxious to do as well!

Your friend,
Bill Anderson

I sincerely apologize for any confusion with my last email. My secretary’s nephew was in the office and had been meddling around with my computer. It’s not the first time he has done something like this, but rest assured – it is the last time.

I’m really not comfortable wiring money to someone I’ve not yet met. If it’s imperative, I can step up my departure date to an earlier time if Friday will be too late. I spoke with my travel agent minutes ago, and he suggested that I can take a flight out of Chicago tonight. If I were to go this route, I would be arriving in Lagos on Wednesday evening at 7:40pm (your time) on British Airways flight 75. If this is acceptable, please let me know soon, as I’ll have to make quick arrangements with the airline.

Thanks for your mail,I am not happy with the way things are going as I am enberassed yesterday by Mr Dave Isom whom I have not written to or knew about him or by whom ever you called him.I am not filling confortable with you any longer regarding to this transaction as I am about to be exposed but I told you that this transactions is confidential and urgent. I am still in the office as an accountat in my ministry will retire as soon as this funds are transfer into your bank account and I will not like to be exposed before then.

Refference to your mail I quote:

” I’m really not comfortable wiring money to some one I’ve not yet met”

.Please I can”t understand what extactly you mean?We echanged our pictures,I have already spent $20,500.00 for affidavit which a copy has been sent to you for your view and other decuments that have being not collected from veriuos ministries due to these fees I asked you to seed this $3000 for ,the documents are the cleasified documents that I and you are going to the bank with for the claiming of the fund at your bank in U.S.A.

I am also going to intrust funds to your bank account for someone I do not know due to we have exchanged our pictures for mutual trust and confidence and why do you make such comments.

Be informed that the level of documentations at the ministry of finance is not what you can arrenge to come to Nigeria for now and time is coming as a lawyer to come and sign the fund release order documents at the bank which is the final documentations from the bank before the funds are to be transffer into your bank account.

We have not yet get to the bank which your non sending of these money has caused us time delay .The issue now is to make sure that we pay two fees at the finance ministry to have our files approve before pushing the three files to central bank of nigerial for final documentations and approvals. When it gets to that, then you can come for the signing at the bank.Your coming is meaningless for now till our fills get to the central bank of nigeria for final documentations and approvals and remmittance of funds.

Please propond your traveling till next week wednesday,by then our files will move out of the finance ministry after you might have send the $3000 for the payments of these fees at the finance ministry before our files moves out please, this is the setuation on the ground right now,you should know that we maped out 10% of the total sum for any expences that we may incare during the cause of this transactions and will be taken care off from the 10%?.Rebook your air tickek for next week by then we will come to the end of the transactions to the bank.

Note that you will be coming with letter of invitations for me as to use it to uptain visa with your assistance here on ground. Please call me on my number 234-80-23086390 for more explanations as you have worned your case yesterday at the court CONGRATULATIONS once again.

I will expect your call to night as from 5,6,7,pm American time, this call is very important to both of as I have to give another chance.Try to send the money and have trust on me as I have already biuld up mine to you.Have a nice day till then

You have been one of the most entertaining parts of our day, since I first replied to you as James Jennings. I get shit like this all the time, but you have been, by far, the most fun to converse with! I never had any intentions of sending you money. (of course neither did you!)

Seriously, how can I trust someone who’s willing to leave his wife and kids to come and woo my secretary? Christa McAuliffe is merely a fictitious character played by me! (As was James Jennings, and Bill Anderson, and Dave Isom) I set up all these email accounts just to have a little fun at your expense!

I have a few questions for you:

1) Does anyone ever really fall for this shit? How much money have you made from pulling these scams?

2) Why does your inkjet printer suck? Seriously, the scan of that affidavit that you printed on your home printer looked like something my 4 year old son would do.

3) Was that a picture from a newspaper that you scanned and sent to me? It looked like you ripped it out of the front page of the Nigerian Times or something.

4) Who taught you how to read and write English? If you paid them, you should get your money back. I was shoucked at how horrible your spelling was. Dude, it’s called spell-check. Invest. It’ll help your future scams.

5) How did you get started doing the 419 scams? Do they teach classes on it in school or something? Why is it that everyone in Nigeria has nothing better to do than send unsolicited email. Get a life. Get a job. Get bent.

Well that’s basically it. Thanks for all the laughs! We really appreciated it!

Hey there, bud? Where’d you go? No reply? I asked several questions to which I would like the answers! No hard feelings… you tried to scam me, and I had a little fun with it. Don’t be upset with me for that! I still want to be your friend!
